Board Of Directors

Dakota Rose

Founder & Executive Director

Dakota Rose is a multimedia educator, I.T. specialist, and post-production professional whose work bridges the creative and technical worlds to empower underserved communities through access to technology and education. Raised in Chico and trained in Film Studies at UC Berkeley, Dakota’s career spans roles in Hollywood editing rooms, college classrooms, and grassroots tech labs—each shaped by a deep belief that everyone deserves access to creative tools, career opportunities, and digital literacy.

Before founding Tech Toss, Dakota worked as a finishing editor for major entertainment clients like Disney, Marvel, and Netflix, while also managing AV/IT systems and producing educational media at UC Berkeley’s D-Lab. He taught himself computer repair as a teenager and later developed hands-on curriculum in video production and media arts as an adjunct professor at Butte College, where he continues to teach film and digital storytelling.

At Tech Toss, Dakota leads a mission to reimagine e-waste as opportunity: transforming discarded electronics into refurbished tools, training labs, and job-skills programs for low-income students, families, and elders. His leadership merges sustainability with workforce readiness, always with a commitment to local impact. Whether designing a digital literacy lab, coordinating industry partnerships with L.A. studios, or leading e-waste collection drives in Butte County, Dakota’s goal remains the same—build a more creative, equitable, and connected world, one upcycled machine at a time.
